How To Connect Your HivePulse Device 

Step 1:

Download the HivePulse mobile app.
The mobile app can be downloaded on both Google Play Store and iOS App Store devices by searching for ‘HivePulse’ owned by Blue Bean Software (Pty) Ltd.

Step 2:

Create a user account.
Create an account by clicking on ‘Sign up’. Fill in the form and submit.

Note: Passwords are private and securely encrypted.

Step 3:

Add your apiaries and add beehives to the apiaries

Step 4:

How to register a sensor:
HivePulse has created a sensor device which will track temperature, humidity and irregular movement in beehives. Each of these sensors has unique QR codes and serial numbers assigned to them and can be found stuck to the surface of the device.

  • On the app, click on ‘Sensors’.
  • Click on the QR code icon to scan your device’s QR code. Please ensure that the relevant permissions are given to the HivePulse mobile app if the camera output is not shown. If there are problems with scanning a QR Code, it is recommended to clear any dirt off the mobile phone camera and the QR code on the HivePulse sensor device.

Step 5:

How to assign a sensor to a beehive:
In order to link a sensor to a specific hive, navigate to the particular hive, and enable the sensor associated with the particular hive.

Step 6:

How to view sensor data:
Data for a particular sensor is viewed by navigating to the sensor of interest on the “Sensors” page.
Navigate to the “History” tab to view the data over time.
Click on the icon next to ‘Sensor History’ to toggle the view and view it in more detail.

Tamper alerts:

Tamper alerts occur when a sensor receives abnormal movement. The purpose of this is to alert the user that the beehive has been shaken or tampered with, the cause of which could be humans, animals or strong weather. You will receive a push notification on your phone.
Please check that you have enabled notifications for the HivePulse app on your mobile phone.
